A Vision For Charleston County

Charleston County should be a place where the people who build it, teach in it, serve in it, and raise families in it, can afford to stay in it. Growth should respect our land, provide adequate infrastructure , and affordable neighborhoods that serves the people and not speculators. We believe in a county government that is transparent, accountable to the people, and not to those beholden to other interests. Our vision is simple. Fix what's broken, and build a better future, that works for everyone.

Stewards of the Land

  • Enforce a targeted development moratorium where infrastructure is overwhelmed.
  • Expand the Greenbelt program.
  • Cost effective and sustainable growth.
  • Protect floodplains and tree canopy as public infrastructure.
  • Require growth to pay its full cost to the public.

  • Create and guide infrastructure concurrency.
  • Roads and schools to support growth.
  • Launch a Streetlight & Sidewalks Program.
  • Expand and modernize public transportation.
  • Use development impact fees to fund improvements.

  • Public oversight of budgets and institutions.
  • Community driven democracy.
  • Publish accessible financial and development data.

  • Public investment in our farms, libraries, marketplaces and schools.

    A lack of infrastructure and overdevelopment has destroyed our quality of life. We need a short moratorium on cluster developments.

    PLAN

    We need a comprehensive plan to address our lack of infrastructure and our lack of affordable housing. We deserve safe streets with sidewalks and streetlights.

    PROTECT

    We need to protect our wildlife. We need to protect the rural nature of our district and enforce the urban growth boundaries.
